Who We Are
The Northern Lights Forest Education Society (NLFES) is a non-profit organization in the Mackenzie Region of Alberta. We are a group that is committed to delivering forest education programs to communities in Northwestern Alberta.
What We Do
The NLFES inspires learning through outdoor events and community partnerships. We offer a number of Forest Educational Programs to schools and communities.


Our Approach
Through partnerships with schools, industry, local government, organizations, individuals, First Nations and Metis communities, the NLFES plays a part in increasing awareness of the importance of our forests.


Our Society's Resources
Our Society has developed multiple programs based on the Alberta Grades K-12 curriculum. We partner with the Fort Vermillion School Division and other community groups.



Curriculum Based Programs
The Northern Lights Forest Education Society offers curriculum programs through Forest Camps, Classroom Presentations, Teacher Professional Development Workshops and Career and Vocational Training.
